Days 27-31

27 Single stage

I like lots of single stages, but Spiritomb is one I didn’t draw yet. 

28 Cutest

Last of my dumb cats (the others being Persian and Purugly) Deltcatty gets this one. I used it as a special attacker in Sapphire… it worked out surprisingly well.

29 Scariest

There’s only one pokemon I’ve ever found kind of unpleasant to look at, and that’s Pinsir. If they were trying to make Tynamo/Eelektross have lamprey mouths, they still look downright pleasant compared to Pinsir.

30 Most badass

In the original Red game, my water attacker/surfer was Snorlax. Probably its fault that I’m not big on any water types now because he was great.

31 Favorite

I can’t really explain why but I really like Pidgeotto. I had one in both Red and FireRed and kept them from evolving forever. So now I have a level 90 Pidgeotto and that’s all the starter birds I need.

Day 26: man made…?

Previously I’ve said that there were 3 of the 5th gen pokemon that amazed me when I first saw them. I lied. There are 4, and the fourth is Garbodor. It’s not pretty or anything but it just makes you go, ‘Wow, they made a trash bag pokemon…’ I mean Muk is like a sort of formless thing but this is a pile of trash. No offense. Seriously, I do like this thing.

Day 24: favorite legendary

Welllll I’ve used Kyogre and Lugia and they’re great and all but I don’t think anything will beat Mewtwo. The 1st gen had an interesting concept, that the top legendary wasn’t some elemental nature god but something that humans made and messed up. I think there’s a connection to Christmas to be said here, but I can’t figure it out.

Day 23: favorite design

There were 3 gen5 pokemon I really liked as soon as I saw them, they were Reuniclus, Sigilyph and Chandelure. This guy’s color scheme and the thin swirling patterns aren’t overly robotic like a lot of the new designs, but they aren’t clumsy spikes and blobs like a lot of the old designs. Really neat.

Day 22: the coolest

When I first saw Sigilyph I knew I had to use it. Best 5th gen pokemon. I like drawing them trying to be typical birds (mostly sitting on stuff) even though they don’t look very much like birds at all. My Sigilyph is called Milkyway, I hunted for one with Magic Guard because screw hail/sandstorm/etc

Day 21: favorite in battle

I love all the cats but nothing’s better than than this big dumb cat throwing off Hypnosis every first turn. It makes my cousin mad, anyway. I can’t think of a faster Hypnotizer other than Crobat.

Day 20: Favorite baby

I’ve used a surprising number of baby pokemon. Elekid and Magby were fun but they’re not that cute, Riolu on the other hand is an adorable luchador puppy thing. I always call my Lucario/Riolu Augustine.

Day 19: legendary dog

The beasts aren’t really my favorite trio but I guess I always liked how Suicune looks with all its flowing parts. I don’t understand how the ribbons blow forward while the hair blows backwards though….

Day 18: favorite bird

I’m saving my favorite birds for other days, so other than them I’m not sure who to pick. I had a Noctowl in Platinum who singlehandedly stalled Darkrai and Giratina until I caught them so he’s as good as any. His name was Aristotle, my cousin likes him :)
